    For Tough Times

    For Good Times

    Heal the Pain; Live Forwards

    A Caring Nod to the Past and Eyes Firmly on the Future

  • Hunt the Good

    Every day, seek out what's good.

    When we focus only on what needs ot be fixed, changed, bad, wrong, inferior, we exercise that part of the brain, but doesn't build the brain mechanisms required to identify the good in life. That's fine at times, but when tough times come, you need the skill of quickly identifying the good stuff so you can manage those tough times more easily.

    Hunt the good | Build the good

    How you treat others says everything there is to know about you

    HOW OTHERS TREAT YOU SAYS ALL THERE IS TO KNOW ABOUT THEM

    (and that's not secretly about you

    - just them - just. them.)

    The New Black: Trauma-Informed Conversations

    Trauma is so widespread, everyone needs be trauma-aware at the very least

    Love

    ...self love and self respect are the ultimate revenge...

  • "The laws of karma are actually very empowering. We may always be aware of strong emotional & psychological winds blowing from past events & experiences, but even so, how we sail through these winds can make all the difference. No matter how strongly we have been conditioned, we don't have to go through life perpetuating old patterns ... new karma is being created all the time."

    ~ Lama Surya Das

  • Having to accept the unacceptable?

    Accept what now cannot be changed. It has occurred, it can't be erased, should not be denied. Accept your own inabilities; accept others' inabilities too. Acknowledge what's better. Turn away from what doesn't help. Step into what's new with gentle appreciation and an exploring mind; seek guidance from those who've travelled this way before you; allow your own love to flow out into the world around; allow your love to flow around your own body, heart and soul; make choices that enable you; make choices you can be proud of in the future.

    Temperance

    Patience; Kindness; Allowing; Astute

    Be gentle but firm with yourself; choose your thoughts care fully

    Your thougths are your own to create and re-create; your thoughts are your own to destroy as well. If you don't like this thought, create a new one. It takes practice, daily practice - it's a simple practice, it's not an easy practice. Practice every day - make helpful thoughts, useful thoughts, thoughts you can live by.

    Remain steadfast in the pursuit of life-fulness.

    ...care-fulness
    mind-fulness
    thought-fulness
    life-fulness
    forget-fulness...
  • Self Determination - What are your thoughts and actions determining in your life?

    To Promote Self Determination:

    1/ Get to know yourself - who you are and what you want out of life; keep your personal goals dynamic, fluid and flexible;

    2/ Solve problems that act as barriers to achieving those goals; or prevent you being who you know you truly are; seek assistance whenever you need to;

    3/ Make choices that reflect your preferences whenever possible; including choices about how you present your own self to the world around you;

    4/ Participate actively in decisions that impact the quality of your life - what are others deciding for you or about you, without you?

    5/ Advocate for yourself; don't hide; don't allow them to silence you unless that fits for you;

    6/ Take charge of your life - it's yours, not theirs, allow them to take charge of their lives too.

    Accept who

    you are now

    Aspiring to be the best version of yourself is great unless it includes some form of self rejection.

    By accepting who we are through any stage of our lives we also enable what's already working for us, enable our current strengths. That means we don't have to keep telling ourselves I'm not my best version yet but I will be one day. Which is vague and can lead to self rejection. Don't self reject. Ever.

    Self Trust

    - by being yourself you enable others to be themselves too.

    Self determination is about the personal decision to do or think a certain way then live by that.

    Do you like the way you do things? Do you like the way you think?

    Self determination is about being able to say yes to both those questions most of the time.
